rider news   Ashley started riding on a 150cc bike in 2006 before progressing to a 250cc bike at the end of the year. Under the tutorship of former-Buxton Hitmen captain Neil Painter he progressed rapidly and was soon riding a 500cc machine in Academy League meetings after turning fourteen in 2008.

Due to injury his participation in the 2008 British Under-15 Championship was curtained but he is expected to be one of the leading contenders in 2009. He did enter an amateur meeting at Scunthorpe in September and would probably have won it but for a couple of engine failures whilst leading races.

Ashley's fastest time of the day at 61.09 certainly gives an indication of how well he has mastered the Eddie Wright Raceway but it will be early May before the youngest of the Saints can join the team after turning fifteen.

rider news   After calling time on a 12 year career in motocross to concentrate on establishing his business: Marine Fabrications in 1992, Mark Littler showed that he had lost none of his competitive edge when he returned to two-wheel motorsport on the tarmac in 2006. Keeping his options open Mark initially rode with four clubs, before he focused on just EMRA and New Era series as the season progressed.

Citing EMRA’s Alamo Racing Trophy as the title he wished to win, Mark’s victory at the opening round of the championship put him on course to achieve his goal, as he headed the standings from beginning to end courtesy of some characteristic solid points scoring rides. Attributes that also saw 42-year-old Mark just miss out on the club’s 1300cc title, as he finished runner up to season-long rival Pete Bradshaw at the end of another close and hard-fought championship duel.

Meanwhile having only ever previously ridden at Mallory Park and Darley Moor, plus one outing at Oulton Park at the end of 2006 that enabled him to dispense with his novice jacket, the New Era Club Pro-Bike Open championship posed Mark many new and different challenges as he made his debut at a number of circuits.

However, the company director from Burntwood in Staffordshire acquitted himself well, and after winning both races at the opening Mallory Park round, Mark’s consistency again shone through as he scored points at every round he contested thereafter to also conclude that campaign in the second place overall.

The 2008 preparations began with Mark upgrading his ‘old’ ex-Hawk Kawasaki to the team’s BSB bike that James Haydon rode in the latter half of this year! In the 2008 season Mark stayed loyal to his original club EMRA but also joined the growing national series Thundersport GB in their debut season. This was taking his riding to a new level as it gave the sponsors extensive coverage on Motors TV.

The season was most eventful and put both Mark and his team through their paces with some challenging situations. Things were looking good, until an unfortunate accident occurred at Mallory Park, where he collided with a fallen rider’s bike at the esses, resulting in a broken arm, ribs, shoulder and a suspected punctured lung. After extensive surgery and a week in hospital, seven weeks to the day Mark returned to Mallory to win his first race back on the bike by over 23 seconds, which put his championship hopes back on track.Even though Mark missed several meetings he ended up winning the EMRA Open championship and coming equal second in the EMRA Buildbase championship.

With a lot of help from his friends, family and sponsors Mark and his team plan to return in the 2009 season aiming for yet another championship title.
